Taiwan’s export orders rose 62.4% year on year to a record USD114.2bn in September, marginally above a 61.7% consensus, though growth eased from 71.4% in August. It was the 20th straight month of annual gains. Third-quarter orders totalled a record USD315.1bn, up 65.0% year on year, reflecting sustained demand for AI-related ICT and electronics and supporting an export-led expansion into Q4.

Technology Investment Cycle And Economic Outlook

The Central Bank of the Republic of China has framed the upswing as part of a technology investment cycle and lifted its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 11.48%, while pencilling in 5.82% for 2027. Policy remained on hold in September, with the rate kept at 2.0%, even as headline CPI accelerated to 2.73% year on year versus a 2.03% full-year projection. In FX markets, USD/TWD has climbed 3.8% to 32.60 from around 31.40 in early September, with moves shaped by a firmer USD, capital outflows and a wider rate differential; the central bank has reiterated readiness to intervene against excessive volatility.
